"The BDFA has given me hope, encouragement and support and helped me recognise the good things and that happy times can still be accomplished by my daughter and the rest of the family"

Fundraise For The BDFA

Throughout the country there are some great events taking place which you can be a part of and help to raise money to support the work of the Batten Disease Family Association.

Do you like Swimming?

If you like to swim why not set yourself a new challenge by joining up to one of the great swim events offered around the country.  By registering to the event you will then be able to raise money for our work – once you have signed up please just email: fundraising@bdfa-uk.org.uk or call Georgette Ward on 01603 760111 to receive your Batten’s T-shirt, sponsorship forms and help on setting up a justgiving page.  It’s great to set yourself a challenge as well as making a difference to those affected by Batten Disease.  So why not take the plunge today!!!!  Visit: www.greatswim.org to find out more.

Local Running Events / Other Sporting Events

Why not be sponsored to take part in a local event? Over the last year we have had lots of people joining in half marathons, 5 mile races, triathlons and full marathons to raise money for Batten Disease – you could be one of them.  Once you have found your race and signed up, call our Fundraising Officer on 01603 760111 to receive your t-shirt, advice on setting up a justgiving page and sponsorship forms.  Then it’s over to you!

Ben Brailsford took part in a local event, along with his friends  and writes:

“Three of us ran the 10km Great Yorkshire Run in Sheffield on 6th September to raise money for the BDFA. It wasn’t the quickest time ever, but it was a fantastic day. Loads of people, noise and colour. It was a great atmosphere. Me and my wife Gill finished in 62 minutes, and Rob Mayo finished in 59mins.  I raised nearly £200. This was actually our 3rd run of the year and between us and another couple of friends we’re raised nearly £1700.  We’ve had real fun raising money this way. Running as a group and aiming for different races has encouraged us to keep going and is a great way of raising money.”

So over to you…

If you have something you would love to do whether it’s running a half marathon, sitting in a bath of beans or climbing up a mountain we would love to hear from you.  We can help you with advice on organising your event and support as you get ready for your challenge

(please then keep the justgiving information and sponsorship form information as it already is on the website page – thanks!).

To help fundraise for your event there are two options – or use both!

Using Justgiving:

BDFA has teamed up with justgiving.com an online fundraising site which is 100% secure and easy to use.  It makes fundraising for your event so much easier as you no longer have to go around collecting cash from your friends!  You can make your fundraising page your own, adding photos, updates about your training and everyone can see how well you are doing on your fundraising…
