for Research Grants
to
award in 2008/9
“The BDFA’s vision is to bring light to Batten
Disease by being the central point of excellence in
the UK for supporting affected families and to
facilitate research into the disease.”
In support of our Mission Statement the BDFA has
specific funds, and chooses to give, funds for
research. Under the BDFA Research Grants:
Application and Approval Procedure 2008/9 grants
awarded will be to facilitate scientific research
into the disease mechanisms, potential cures and
treatments for Batten Disease/Neuronal Ceroid
Lipofusinoses (NCL).
The BDFA Research Grant Application and Approval
Procedure 2008/9 involves a multi-tiered approach
with each Tier relating to the size of the award.
Tier 1 up to £500
can be applied for at
any time
Tier 2 greater than £500 up to £5,000
deadlines: 31st
October 2008
30th April 2009
Tier 3 greater than £5,000
currently N/A
Following from the success of our BDFA Research
Grant Call in Spring 2008, after which £15,500 was
awarded we are now pleased to invite applications
for 2008/9.
The BDFA had funds in the region of £10,000 to award
in November 2008 and awards were made – see link
Further to a funding review by the Board of
Trustees, it is envisaged that grants will also be
available for award in June 2009. Details will be
posted in March 2009
