Information 2009/2010
“The BDFA’s vision is to bring light to Batten Disease by
being the central point of excellence in the UK for
supporting affected families and to facilitate research into
the disease.”
In support of our Mission Statement the BDFA has allocates
specific funds for research. Under the BDFA Research Grants:
‘Application and Approval Procedure 2010 grants awarded will
be to facilitate scientific research into the disease
mechanisms, potential cures and treatments for Batten
Disease/Neuronal Ceroid Lipofusinoses (NCL).
Following from the success of our BDFA Research Grant Call
in 2008 & 2009, after which over 30K was awarded in Batten
Disease Research Grants directly to UK scientists, we are
now releasing details of our next round of Research Grants
for 2009/2010.
We are pleased to announce that 15K is to be awarded under
Tier 2 in 2010 and it is proposed that 25K will be awarded
under Tier 3 in June/July 2010.
This will be, as indicated above, under our multi-tiered
approach, with each Tier relating to the size of the award.
Details are given below, and applications must be made using
our current Application Form and in accordance with the
BDFA Research Grant Application
and
Approval Procedure 2009/2010
guidelines available on our website.
Tier 1 Up to £500 can be
applied for at any time
Tier 2 Greater than £500 up to
£5,000 deadline 12:00 GMT 13th January 2010
Tier 3 Greater than £5,000
