I originally qualified as a Nursery Nurse, working with families and young children with disabilities within local Health Authorities, working alongside multi-disciplinary teams (i.e. consultants, physios, specialist nurses etc.)
Since this time, I have developed my experience and qualifications to become more specialised in Family support which has led me to where I am today. Most recently, I have worked within the voluntary sector, managing services to enable high quality support to families who have a child with a disability or terminal illness. I am always eager to ensure that families receive the most appropriate services to fit their needs and have a passion for working with all the family, (parents, children, siblings, grandparents etc.) in order that they are able to support each other through what can be extremely difficult times.
In my personal life, I am married with two girls, one who has recently married, the other at university. I am always keen to spend quality time with my family, which, as with us all, can be challenging due to other demands. Because of this, I am passionate in supporting families that I work with to find their own quality time to have fun and make memories. Wendy started her role at the BDFA in Feb 2019.
