Dear Families,
Many families in the Batten community rely on their local children’s hospice for essential support that mainstream NHS services are already struggling to provide. The news from Together for Short Lives regarding the ending of NHS England grants for children’s hospices will be devastating, and we are so grateful that TfSL are leading the fight against this.
Having worked in a palliative care setting for many years, I am acutely aware of the complex and embracing support children’s hospices offer, not only at the end of a child’s life, but supporting the whole family, often for many years.
Please share this information within your own communities and help raise awareness of this. If any families feel affected by this please speak to your local hospice. The BDFA family support line is also here for you.’
