International Batten Disease Awareness Day- 9th June
International Batten Disease Awareness Day takes place on the 9th June annually. This is such an important date in our calendars as we focus on raising awareness of Batten disease with the global Batten community and aim to turn the UK orange!
Contact admin@bdfa-uk.org.uk for more information about awareness day.
Tag us and use the Awareness day # on social media
Each year, the Batten community takes to social media to spread awareness with powerful stories, photos, videos, quotes and poems. We hear perspectives from all family members in our community, including our bereaved community. Tag us @bdfabattendisease
Share your Batten Story
Our Awareness Day storytelling project has been a huge success and such a prominent part of the day. We look forward to continuing this every year and building our library of Batten stories online. We love to have as many families involved as possible and we’re always so grateful to those who share their thoughts.
Get involved on Awareness day
Awareness Day is also a fantastic opportunity to get involved with fundraising for the BDFA. We love to challenge our supporters with a fundraising theme or hear their fabulous fundraising ideas. Get in touch with the fundraising team fundraising@bdfa-uk.org.uk to find out more.
Raise awareness, light up a building orange!
The awareness efforts continue into the night, as over the years, many families have used their influence to get local buildings lit up orange to mark the day. They look amazing! It is a great way your local landmark can get involved, and lots of builds do this regularly for other causes.
Get in touch if you are planning to light up a building near you or if you need any assistance from us and don’t forget to post and send us your amazing photos on the day!
