On 29th January Farnborough Freemasons from Mercury Lodge presented a cheque for £850 to Andrea West, Chief Executive Officer of the Batten Disease Family Association, to support them in all their valuable work providing help and assistance to children with neuro degenerative disease and their families.
Batten disease causes an apparently healthy child to develop epilepsy, lose the ability to walk, talk, eat and see before dying a premature death between the ages of 5 – 30 years depending on the type of Batten Disease inherited. Currently there is no cure. The association supports many families in the local area.
The day was particularly memorable as it was the first day the BDFA had permanent offices which are now based in Boundary Road, Farnborough.
Speaking about the donation Michael Sargent said “It is so good to be able to support a charity based in Farnborough that supports the children and their families when going through such difficult times”.
