Make your donation go further
If you are a UK tax payer, you can make every £1 you give – or have given in the past – worth 25p more, under the Gift Aid scheme, as it allows Batten Disease Family Association CIO (BDFA) {Registered Charity No 1205650} to reclaim tax you have already paid to HM Revenue on eligible donations. This means that you can make an even bigger difference at no extra cost to you.
Various conditions apply, You are a taxpayer if you receive a wage or salary, if you have taxable savings, a private pension or if you have paid capital gains on the sale of property or shares.
We are able to reclaim 25p for every £1 donated from the government at no extra cost to you.

Regular payments
We need you to give us the information required by HMRC to permit a manual claim demonstrating that you are a UK taxpayer. As a consequence of the GDPR legislation ALL historic Gift Aid information and approvals have expired.
To avoid the postage costs of using forms as in the past we have created a new facility for this information at https://bdfa-uk.org.uk/get-involved/gift-aid-online-declaration which we need to link to the actual receipts.
If you have a standing order (SO) to us each month please indicate the information you give on the payment on your SO, the date of payment each month and the amount then we can tie them up to make the claims.
Sponsorship forms
If you are using sponsorship forms, each person MUST fill in their full name and address and tick the gift aid box in order for us to claim the gift aid on their behalf.
Higher rate taxpayers
Gift Aid applies to donations at the basic rate of tax (20%). However, if you are a higher rate taxpayer (40% or 50%), you can claim additional tax relief on your donations. To do this, you must include all your Gift Aid donations on your Self-Assessment tax return or request HM Revenue & Customs to adjust your tax code accordingly.
As a higher rate taxpayer, you can reclaim the difference between the basic rate and your highest rate of tax, further increasing the value of your donation. For example, a donation of £10,000 could effectively be worth up to £15,625 to the BDFA.
Thank you for your donations and please help us maximise the additional Gift Aid we may claim.
